Did I do the right thing?

So I started my period today, and I was at my Aunts house when I went to use the bathroom. I noticed after there was a little mark on her blue bath mat - I’m not sure if it was me or not, but I tried my best to clean it (some soap and cold water) and it seemed to do the trick. There wasn’t really a mark left, if there was it was small. I was too embarrassed to tell my Aunt (I’m young and still kind of getting used to the period life) but I still feel bad!

Did I do the wrong thing? Should I have mentioned it? The mat wasn’t new really, it had some other marks and stuff so I guess it could’ve been a lot worse but I hate messing stuff up (even though I still don’t know if it was there before I came in) and it’s worrying me.
