Cyst Rupture!?

I have been feeling a slight piercing pain on my ovary for a few days now with spotting. I think my period is starting early with the spotting. My cyst was about 3cm so my doctor told me it's not a big deal that it might have ruptured. Should I still be concerned or just sit it out? How do people know if it ruptured? I had a creamy brown like discharge with no smell a few days ago. Now it's turning bloodier. I'm supposed to be ending my ovulation phase but it seems to be an early period.
