Boyfriend getting mad

I needed to get something from my house, so my boyfriend waited for me on the street. These guys were near us and I was walking they were like “ I’d have a piece of that!”

I didn’t even hear it but my bf did and got mad yelling at them.

I feel so weird because the guys went to my school. Was my boyfriend wrong to yell??? He told me he didn’t like it when ppl were disrespectful to me but I think he’s overreacting

Later they were like we were just talking about the chicken we’re gonna eat and now I’m so embarrassed
