I mean it's one thing to share a name with your grandpa, dad and... et cetra... or to be named after an aunt or grandma... you know family names. The whole trying to conform to a standard... is pretty nuts.... do as you please. I feel youre not protecting your child. you are telling them to live in a box and hope to be accepted.

Yes ! At one point in high school i had 4 other Amber's in my class and we all ended up going by last names. Still to this day if im in a group setting i never react to my name until someone says it 2-3 times.

As a teacher I feel this way about a lot of names. If it's in the top 100 of the year, don't use it

I don’t think many moms intend to give their baby a popular name, it just happens. I had a list if baby names since I was 19 (28 now) and my old list had names like Wyatt, Rowan, Eleanor, Lillian, Charlotte, and Eliza[beth] and all of those names are very popular now, especially for my demographic. 
I picked a sub 1000 name for my baby but am seeing it come up on blogs now so in five years it’ll probably be popular too 🤷‍♀️

I didn’t like being one of several Katies in grade school, but a few of my friends had ridiculous names and got made fun of. I’d rather be one of three than have some stupid made up name that makes people think my parents were ignorant.
