Placenta

So I had a D&C about 11 days ago, the doctor said he got everything out but said I may pass pieces of my placenta afterwards because he didn’t want to scrape the sides of my uterus and risk causing damage. The first few days I passed small little blood clots but just yesterday I passed a huge blood clot and what looked like a piece of my placenta, it was fleshy looking and was about half the size of the palm. My question is, is it normal to pass my placenta this late after a D&C? I feel like I should have passed it days ago.
