IUI?!?!

I’d love to hear your experiences with IUI, did it work, the process, etc...

I just did my first IUI on Sunday.  We have unexplained fertility issues.  The process was pretty simple at the fertility clinic that I go to.  Ultrasound to get a baseline for how many follicles you have, a test for Fallopian tube blockage where they try to shoot ink in them to get a good view (blanking on the name but it was the worst part of the process), start a regimen of Letrozole on days 3-7 of your period, trigger shot on day 13, followed by the IUI on day 14.  I hat 2 “good” follicles this month and my husband’s sperm was “excellent.”  The worst thing, honestly,  is needing to wait 2 weeks to see if it worked.  We will try 3 rounds prior to moving on to IVF.  There is a HUGE price difference between IUI and IVF at my clinic so it was worth giving it a shot.

I had my 1st IUI on 9/11, just got bfp yesterday. I’m 39 and wed been trying 6 months so we saw a fertility specialist. He did a work up and my husband’s spark looked great but my estrogen was very high (a sign of high FSH) and my amh was low (.86). The dr said ideally he’d suggest IVF and that my chances with iui or natural were very low, but for insurance purposes we decided to start with IUI. I took 100mg clomid cd3-cd7 and then 250mg ovidrel trigger shot 36 hrs before the IUI. I had 3 mature follicles. I don’t get my blood drawn till Wed and have had 2 miscarriages so I’m trying not to be too excited or too negative while I wait.

So far we had 2 IUI with no success because my husbands sperm count was 1.6 million after being washed. We decided to go with IVF which happen to be a higher success rate. My Frozen egg transfer is in two days. Best luck to you ladies ❤️❤️❤️ baby dust to all you ladies.

I got my bfp dpo 17. I took letrozole after 3 rounds of clomid. That was my first time taking letrozole. I did ovridel trigger Sunday and tested positive in opk Monday and my iui Tuesday morning. My iui process was blood test cd3 and ultrasound. Then cd 9 US (had 10, 12, 12) and trigger cd11 and iui cd 13. The nurse pushed my stomach so the iui catheter went in better. I think that helped. The doctor who did it was different from my normal doctor. So I was nervous. After that I forgot the mcdonalds fries and slept 14hrs instead. The next day I ate pineapple and drank pom juice until dpi12 spinach, 3 oysters daily, a buttload of cabbage, prenatal vitamins, cinnamon, l-argenine, and coq10. Lot of warm foods. Then lost hope after dpi 11 when I kept testing bfn until today which would have been dpi 17. I didn't even test bfp until my missed period so not everyone tests bfp right away if that gives you hope.  I got accepted by an adoption agency last Friday that's how hopeless I felt 10 days ago.

Iui#1 failed, I’m currently in the tww with iui #2, I’m9dpiui and had a bfn this morning, losing faith and not sure if I want to do it all again in December with the added stress of Xmas and getting time to do scans, I’m feeling very angry today 🙁🙁sorry to put a dampener on your post, iui process is very easy and I think affordable, all the best to you and your journey, x

After 1.5yr of trying (unexplained infertility) we started IUI summer of 2020. First one failed but now pregnant after second one using letrazole only. My husband has issues with the collection (severe anxiety) so we only had 20M sperm but it worked!! Got BFP on day 18 after IUI. No symptoms at all. Good luck!
