Can heavy bleeding in early pregnancy be normal?

I took a pregnancy test five days ago and it was a very faint  positive. I then started bleeding so I assumed a miscarriage. :( Today, I took another test and the lines are definitely positive. I’m confused about why the test would show a more positive result five days after I started bleeding.

It’s not normal, but it doesn’t necessarily mean miscarriage either. I had heavy bleeding + clots with my son when I was around 5 weeks pregnant, but he’s about to turn 1 and is as healthy as can be.

The lines can stay dark during a miscarriage. Fingers crossed for you! Call your midwife/ob and get their opinion.

I had moderate bleeding right when my period was due with 2 of my pregnancies  (my 2 girls). It was like 2 or 3 days looking like I had started my period, but then it never got heavy.  An early miscarriage is typically the same bleeding as a full period or heavier.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and concern. I went to the ob today and it is a blighted ovlum or chemical pregnancy. I just thought I’d update.
