Methods of Birth Control, IUD’s?

Question

Would an IUD be a good (first) method of birth control for a 16 year old? 
Someone who is bad at remembering things (taking the pill). 
Also if you have an IUD what are your personal symptoms?

Yep iuds are fine for any age. I'd recommend a hormonal one since they're slightly more effective and won't make your periods worse. I love my Mirena!

If you live outside of the US, you could opt for a smaller copper iud. I'm having a great experience with mine. I'm not bleeding more frequently(even though doc said that could be the case) period was bit more heavy in flow, but did not last longer and was not more painful than without any form of contraception.

Ok I’m 16. Let me tell you my experience. I used to to take the pill . I couldn’t remember it and I always had issues. I would freak out( like cry scream cry then laugh) or get migraines. So my doctor said let try a birth control because I’ve always had weird periods, pms, Brest pain, bad cramps etc. This was a year ago. In that time most of those things go better. I still decided to get the iud because of me and my boyfriends sexual relationship. When I go the iud there was issues. Since I never had a kid my uterus didn’t want to open. It was very painful but it hurt. That night my whose crotch hurt for hours like it was bad. Slowing they got better in the next few days. The worst part was I was getting contractions from the iud. I kept getting contractions randomly and they were painful. Some times I would want to pass out. Sex would also cause these cramps later on after.  Fast foreword to now. It’s been 7 weeks. I feel a bit better hormonally   . I almost an always sporting and i get cramps often. There not normal cramps.  I only feel then in my uterus and then the pain radiated down into my legs and feet.  Those are my worst symptoms. Feel free to ask any questions.

I have had both mirena and paragard and they both are very different. Mirena has hormones and stops ur period within time and give u weight gain (at least to me and woman I personally know). Paragard on the other hand i do not really recommend for a 16yr old. Periods are HORRIBLE, very heavy bleeding and too many days (7-8 with mine) and the cramps u get are very bad as well. But for what i have read because i did my research is that there is no affect now a days such as infertility like it was before with them. Hope this helps
