Twins?

Okay ladies I had a miscarriage july 27th at 7 weeks pregnant and found out I was pregnant again August 26th. I went to the doctor August 27th 17dpo and my HCG levels were 75. I went back Friday 8/31 21dpo and they were 535. I have twins on both my mother and biological fathers side. Anyone have any idea the likelihood of twins with my numbers jumping that high in a few days? I don’t see my doctor til October 22nd

I went from 57 to 507 in 3 days at around 4 weeks and now 213k at 8 weeks and there is only one baby in there! I don’t think HCG levels are a considered a factor in a twin pregnancy. Congrats!

HCG hormones are higher with twin pregnancies, however thats not a valuable resource to say you're having twins. 
You need an ultrasound.

Fraternal twins in your mothers side would give you a slightly higher chance of having twins.  However, the only way to know for certain is an ultrasound.  
Did you ask why your doctor won’t do an ultrasound until 20 weeks?  I’ve always had a dating ultrasound between 7-9 weeks to hear the baby’s heartbeat. My doctor missed my twins at the 7 week appointment but it was very obvious at the 9 week check.  Good luck with your pregnancy!

It sounds like your levels are going up fairly quickly but actually started out quite low - I think mine were 7000 at 21 DPO. Sounds like you may have a higher chance than others of twins as they run in your family, but I know plenty of people who are twins themselves or who have a family history and only ended up with one baby. It’s funny how it works - it doesn’t affect every person in a family or every generation. The last person in my family to have twins before me was my great-grandmother. I wouldn’t stress about it st this stage - you’ll find out eventually. Good luck with your pregnancy.
