Does a NB need a dad?

I’m in a breastfeeding support group on FB and a post came up, I’ll post it below.

Some comments were the usual helpful comments but most were confused and mad that a baby that young would be “taken away” from the mother. Others were mad because a baby that young has no need for the father.

So my question is, do you agree? Can a 2mo do without a dad but not without mom? If so, at what age would you say a baby or child needs their dad?

Personally, I know that if something were to happen to me at this very moment my baby would be well taken care of loved for by his dad. I think he needs the both us equally.
