Breast AND formula feeding

Is it ok to breast feed and formula feed at the same time? I think I only want to breast feed while I’m on maternity leave...I don’t want to continuously breast feed bc I don’t want to fool with a breast pump at any point. I was thinking I could breast feed when I could while I’m at home or whenever, and If I’m out somewhere and don’t feel comfortable feeding in public I could substitute with formula? Has anyone done this? And is it ok to do this?
