Period 34 days late Negative HPT

I am 41 years old and 34 days late with my period. Last period was on July 10th. I had light spotting on July 24th for 2 days... but nothing since then. I have taken 3 HPTs and all have been negative. I called my Dr and they just told me to wait it out. I have been having pregnancy symptoms (sore and tender breasts, frequent urination, food cravings and fatigue). Anyone else experienced anything like this and actually found out they were pregnant and that the tests were wrong??
