Pain after sex

Wondering if anyone else has suffered or is suffering this and has any answers...

Quite often after sex my vagina gets very sore at the opening. I’ve mentioned this to my GP as this is an ongoing problem and all they’ve advised, is to try different lubes etc (which we do, use mainly water based) and have been advised to make foreplay last a bit longer.

Can anyone recommend how to prevent this or anything to soothe as it lasts for a few days after 🤷🏻‍♀️

And sick of mentioning it to doctor as they just seem to fob it off but it’s really starting to effect day to day life!
