A few days ago, I noticed a brown discharge when I wiped. This wasn't particularly alarming, as I do occasionally spot, so I chalked it up to mid cycle spotting and continued with my day.

However, a day later, the spotting had intensified to the point where I had to wear a pad, as a pantiliner wasn't enough. The discharge has been brown or a brownish red, with one instance of light pink. The flow has also varied widely- on day three, I was able to ditch the pad, but I've been wearing pads since then. It's now day five, and it still hasn't let up.

So, what on Earth could this be? My period was a month late last cycle, and I've recently started college. Could the stress and my previous wayward cycle be causing me to have an extremely light period? According to Glow, my period is due in three days. I'm also under the weather.

I had cramps a day or so before the spotting began, but I've felt fine since then.
