Can cervical checks make your mucus plug fall out?

Long story short I’m 27 weeks pregnant, I was hospitalized for having contractions and released this morning because I wasn’t progressing (thank god!) but I’m still contracting unfortunately. I just went to the restroom and when I wiped I had yellowish-green discharge, it had the same consistency as snot (sorry tmi) but could this be another sign of preterm labor or could the irritation from the cervical checks loosen it enough to fall out??? I know it replenishes itself if you loose part of it too early so I’m not concerned about losing it, I’m just concerned that my cervix may be opening/softening. Should I call my doctor?
