Gotta take my baby to the dentist???

So I was told yesterday when your baby gets their first tooth , 6 months prior to getting their tooth they have to go to the dentist?? Is this true? When did y’all start using a baby toothbrush on your babies tooth?

My dentist recommends taking them when they got a few teeth, by age 1 my youngest went to the dentist and he loves her always happy to go he’s 3 now.😊 it’s better to take them when they got most of there teeth, then waiting till they 2-3 as by then if any problems like decay is happening the teeth can get worst. Juice and milk destroy baby teeth they aren’t as strong as adult teeth so worth keeping them healthy with a check up. Brushing teeth starts when they have a tooth and you use baby tooth paste. Water doesn’t do a thing to get milk or food off there teeth..

I brought my daughter at 3.5 years old. She was super cooperative with the x-rays and cleaning at that age. I can't imagine forcing them at a younger age unless there was an actual dental issue to address

No i didnt take my son till he was 3! Thats way too early, Ive only heard that with babies who were born with teeth

My kids were nutty toddlers...we waited until they were 3.  They also didn’t cut teeth until closer to 1, so we were actively in the clingy stranger anxiety stage by the time the teeth came in.

My sons medical book says 6 months from the first tooth coming through, I’m not taking him until he is older though I feel like he needs to understand what we are saying to him before we go. He won’t sit still even on our laps

Yes my daughters dentist told us that kids should be seen soon as they get their first tooth. We didn’t know until we took her in cause we saw something hanging from her gums in the back that was white but was thin like a popcorn shell, which turned out to be a small piece of bone from her getting a moral which normally goes unnoticed cause the bone that gets pushed/broken through by the tooth is usually very tiny pieces not one big piece.

Alot of people do start taking their kids earlier when they get teeth but my dentist won't even take kids earlier than 3. In my opinion they have to be able to really understand what is going on so they don't freak out and get scared for the future. So I just brush my little mans teeth for now at home

Call the dentist you plan on using and ask. Mine didnt wanna see until 2ish. But did confirm what I've been doing was great. As babies wipe with damp cloth after eatings...  as teeth come brush.. had a finger tooth brush until they got like 4-6 teeth then went to infant brush. Still would use damp cloth when out etc ha
