October baby became a September baby!

Brooke

I went in to be induced Monday September 17th at 3am! I was 37 weeks but had pregnancy Induced hypertension. I got there and they immediately inserted cytotec to help soften my cervix, at the time I was barely a fingertip dilated. I ended up having another dose 4 hours later which made me start contracting. My doctor showed up at 11 to check to see any progression, and there wasnt much, but I was then contracting too frequently to have another dose of cytotec so she decided to try to insert a Foley balloon catheter. I laid back on the bed and let me tell you, her attempting to put this catheter in my finger tip dilated cervix was HORRIFYING. I was screaming, crying, squirming around because the pain was unbearable. After 20 minutes of trying, I heard a pop and she whipped out her hand and said that she basically dilated me to a 1 with her finger. The pain was unbearable so we decided that she would be back in an hour or so and try to insert the catheter again. The second time around was even worse pain wise. My family out in the hall could hear me screaming it hurt so bad. But she got it in, and that's when they started the pitocin. The pressure was insane, they had me walking the halls and going up on my pitocin every 30 minutes. 4 hours later I was in so much pain from the contractions I was crying and screaming for an epidural. 30 minutes later the anesthesiologist finally shows up and starts to put the epidural in, I thought after the local anesthetic I wouldn't feel the actual epidural, but I did. Once he got to a certain point inserting the epidural, I felt it all, and it was horrifying. Afterwards I couldn't feel my right leg, and the only thing I felt from the contractions was pressure, but the nurse assured me this was normal. The balloon fell out a few hours later. I fell asleep, and throughout the night they upped my pitocin to the max I could have without having a catheter inserted into my cervix to see how strong my contractions were exactly. The next morning, my doctor came in and broke my water and inserted the catheter into my cervix. I had made no progress other than being mechanically dilated by the balloon. I was done, I was ready to just ask for a c section. I was discouraged. I wasnt progressing. I was scarred from the day before. Since I had the catheter in to measure my contractions, they could turn the pitocin up even higher. They took me off pitocin, to give my body a break, let me eat, and then started it back up. They kept turning it up higher and higher every 30 minutes. I started to feel my contractions though very strongly, and that wasnt right considering I had an epidural. So I let my nurse know. She checked the catheter for the epidural, IT CAME OUT. ALL DAY THE EPIDURAL WAS DRIPPING INTO MY BED SHEETS INSTEAD OF INTO ME. So there I was, 40 hours into labor, having to get a second epidural. I was on a time clock. I had until 7 am to progress more or else I would be having a c section due to risk of infection since my water had been broken for 24 hours. The nurse came in at 4 am, checked me, and no progress was made at all, after my pit had been turned up to 30 for 4 hours. My doctor made the call to cut at 7. I was so nervous. I remember shaking so badly on the table. I remember all of the pressure I felt, but no pain. But what I remember most is hearing our healthy baby boy's cry, 9 minutes after the surgery started. It was so fast, and the recovery has been awful, but its so very worth it. Everyone meet ayden Beckett ❤
