Mirena iud gone through my uterus 😩

Ok so six weeks ago I got the mirena IUD put in at 6 months postpartum I felt for the strings and though I felt something, I had a little bleeding and cramping for the first week or so and no other bad symptoms until now. So Thursday I went in for my 6 weeks check and there were no strings so I got an ultrasound Friday and no IUD, got an X-ray and it is outside my uterus on the left side of my abdomen 😒. I think when they put it In they actually stuck it right through my uterus because they were telling me my uterus is really long and that’s the only time I bled significantly. So anyway some of the doctors that did the scan have been telling me that some people just leave it in there!!! I’m so worried I really want to get it out of me now and am just worrying that it’s going to damage my other organs ☹️. Anyway just wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Or getting it removed and how surgery went etc? I also didn’t have any bleeding before it was inserted due to breastfeeding and am still breastfeeding but starting bleeding dark red blood and the doctor told me it’s probably my period but I’m concerned it’s something more it seems like a bit of a coincidence I would get my period now that all this is happening 🤦🏻‍♀️

Update: I saw the doctor yesterday and got a referral to the hospital for surgery she said she thinks it will be within the next six weeks. She apologised and said she thinks it happened when they put it in I’m relieved to have some motion on this anyway the waiting and worrying is the worst! She told me the mirena is sitting right near my bladder in front of my uterus so it is painful when my bladder is full.
