Need help trying to figure out my symptoms

AF is now 7 days late. I'm usually fairly regular. At most I'm a day early or late. I'm very rarely this late. When I was on my fourth day late, I went to the bathroom, had some red spotting on the toilet paper. I put a tampon in, and nothing was on it when I went to change it. Later that night, I thought I was starting again, put a tampon in and when I went to change it, I had just a tiny spot of brown on it. Other than that, I've had nothing. Has anyone else had this? I want to test, but I'm worried I'm getting my hopes up.
