Would you move?
Would you move across the country for a new job and leave your home, family and friends if it meant a better opportunity in life?
I’m curious to see how much family and “normalness” means to people.
When I was 17, I left my family, my town and all of my friends to move all the way to Texas (from Florida) to marry my husband. It does get lonely at times but my husband and I both agree with we enjoy not having family so close all the time. It’s nice having our own lives and doing our own things. It’s nice for people to visit or to go back home and then get to go back to our own thing.
Now my brother in law just got a job offer to move from Florida to Texas and he’s unsure about taking it. He would work the same job but have a higher salary and the cost of living in the town he would be in is lower. They have three small kids and he has an elderly grandfather who just bought a house near them. They’re the only ones he really has left. So it’s either, new life and possibly better opportunities and leave family, or stay and possibly miss out.
