When I used to date, way back in the day, I always insisted on splitting the bill. Call it pride I guess but I always thought that I didn’t want a guy to hold money over my head. Where I’m from, people think you owe them something if they pay for anything for you.
So I wanted to avoid all of that. 
Now with my husband, it doesn’t matter, his money is mine and vice versa.
