Epidural or no epidural?

Question

How long does the pain last without an epidural? I’ve hard there are many long term side effects with epidurals so I’m trying to get opinions 😭

I couldn't have done it and kept my sanity without the epidural. I had pitocin to induce me and those contractions were hell on earth. I had no side effects to the epidural. 
From what I understand (could be wrong) pitocin makes them worse since its forcing your body to contract. 
The women who go all natural are insanely strong and I could never do it.

I've had 12 spinal tabs which is the same procedure as the epidural (same needle, same spot) but the needle is left in there. 
I've had on & off pain in that spot for years.  
For that reason I refuse to have an epidural. I'm a cancer survivor I feel like I can do anything lol, & I have a high tolerance for pain considering. So natural just sounds right for me, idk what will happen when I actually go into labor. 
I'm currently pregnant & my plan is all natural. If there are complications I'd be open to a c section obviously if there's no choice. 
But epidural, for me is a no go.
But I also feel like my reason is pretty valid lol.

Until you have a baby, the pain will be gone.. I opted out but when I started to get in labor and I was in active labor for 22 hours it was a life saver. In the sense of the pain was unbearable and I was exhausted

I got an epidural with my first and I am perfectly fine.. plan on getting one with this one

You might not even need any pain medication. I chose not to have any meds and go natural my first time. I had to be induced but I was determined. Was in labour from start to finish 1 hour and 5 mins,went so fast! Wouldn't change my birth experience for the world. I just hope my next one is as positive. Just go with the flow and see what happens on the day. Look up hypnobirthing and the breathing techniques, helped me loads and also by keeping upright and pacing about focusing on one thing in the room and breathing through it. Just leave all the options on your birth plan what ever you decide,obviously taking into consideration that they might have to intervene if its serious,you then wont have a choice but to save you and your baby. Ive been induced twice with pitocin and didn't have an epidural. It gets tough but for me when I thought i couldnt do it any more it was time to push

I knew long before I even got pregnant that I'd have an epidural and I don't regret it one bit. I had zero side effects from it and it really allowed me to relax and be present in my labor. I fully plan to have one with all future babies as well.

You’ve got to look at it from a different perspective too. Women have died from the pain of labor (among other things.) Depending on your pain tolerance, it may be bad or good. Me myself, speaking from experience, almost died from the pain & my daughter couldn’t leave the warming unit longer than 10 minutes the 1st 24 hrs. In a matter of less than 40 minutes, my fluid went from clear to mecromium filled. I nearly went into shock & the pain was so bad I had to get clotting meds & blood after she was out. It’s up to you, but tbh keep your options open jic.

I tried so hard to go natural but I couldn’t handle it! I was more of a chicken than I thought haha
