Holiday Travels with Newborn

We are due the middle of November with our first. The little one will likely be under 6 weeks by the time Christmas rolls around. Traditionally we celebrate over two hours away with my husband’s family which consists of roughly 15-16 people. I’ve already made up my mind that we are not going this year due to it being so far away, during flu season, and that the baby will be pretty young still (and truth be told, I’d like to start our own family traditions at home too).

Turns out this decision is not going over well with family. They’re still trying to convince my husband to somehow make the trip. They’re trying to guilt him into it. He’s been such a trooper and has been handling it so well but I’m to the point where I’m getting upset that it’s still even coming up. I would NEVER expect someone with a newborn to travel over 4 hours in one day. I also would never be upset when they also don’t want the newborn around so many people at one time especially during flu season. Please don’t get me wrong, I am grateful to have such a caring family, but I don’t feel like our decision is being respected and is instead constantly being undermined. I have kept out of it this far but am to the point where I wonder if I should say something. Thoughts?
