My boyfriend can’t get hard

My boyfriend and I tried having sex for the first time...when we were making out he was hard but as soon as I said let’s do it he got soft and couldn’t get hard again. I wasn’t mad, he was super embarrassed and upset tho. I was genuinely confused. We tried again the day after, this time he asked to and the same thing happened ! He feels really bad and doesn’t know why that’s happening. I read that if he’s nervous this can happen and he said he was kind of nervous. But I am unsure of what to do as the female when this happens ? HELP
