For those of you in states With E-Wic and not the vouchers... how does it work???

I live in MN and in 6 months they said it’ll switch to the cards. 
So how do they make sure you are getting wic items and not other stuff??

I am in Florida it's so easy there's an app and the print out a list of your benefits also with the app it's easier to get your benefits

So I'm in AZ and we shop at Walmart where they NEVER have the WIC signs up. So the app has a barcode scanner that for me only works about 1/2 the time. It also has an electronic version of the book so you can read the dos and don'ts. The cheese section never works. It just says "might be covered." So we usually stick to cojack cuz we know that works. Mozzarella works too but pepper jack doesn't. It's kinda like a guessing game. Then we go to the check out and while the cashier scans everything we just tell her some of it will be on WIC so at the end they press a button and you slide the WIC card first like a debit card and once that transaction is complete itll say ok $.$$ is remaining and you use another payment method. If you only buy the stuff on your WIC list then you don't have to worry about additional payments

On the app you can see all your wic items , wen you go to the store you grab those items making sure it has the wic tag of course n you just pay with your card it’s very easy.

I have the card and you just swipe it FIRST when you’re checking out if you’re buying other things so it takes them off your total. Most stores have the wic approved items labeled with a sticker and if you need help go to customer service they can print out your list of what you have on your card and show what the items are if you need help.

So easy. Download the WIC app, & it shows you what benefits you have for the month, gives you the option of scanning products to see if they're acceptable, & you can also search up brands. Then you just swipe your card like any other 🤷‍♀️ Whatever you don't use, will still show up in your benefits.

There’s an app so you can see your benefits, allowable items in each category, and even scan barcodes to see if the item is allowed. It’s really easy!
