first time kitten owner!

I’m getting a kitten in two days and I don’t want to mess anything up. How do I prepare? What are the best food brands (wet and dry)? What’s something you learned as a cat owner I should know?

I’ve done a lot of research but I just want to hear from someone that I can trust isn’t motivated by promoting a brand.
