Birth story!
It's been a few days now and I can finally wrap my head around everything. Despite being tired and not being able to sleep at night, I couldn't be happier.
I had been having contractons for the past 3 eeks and they were pretty paimless, so Monday when i was having them again it didn't phase me at all. Until I woke up Tuesday morning at 4:30am. I was at 4cm Monday's when I saw my doctor, so it was automatically active labor considering my contractions were 3-4 minutes apart.
I tried going into a bath to ease the pain but they kept getting worse. I got out got dressed woke up my oldest (he's 12), grabbed my bags and walked over to the hospital. It's literally right next door!
Once I got there we went up to the 4th floor and they put me on a routine monitoring for 20 minutes and then told me that i was already at 5cm. They left the room and the rest of my delivery they came and checked the babies heartbeat every 30 mins and thats it.
The dr told me to come and get her when i felt like I was ready to push.
I spent the rest of the time listening to my meditation music on the yoga ball, walking the halls, and peeing! Every contraction made me have to pee. My son and my man were using acupressure points on my back and hands to help with the pain, as well as cold cloths when i'd get really hot. Near the end I found it extremely tough to stay in any position, the contractions were really intense. Eventually I felt umbearable pressure and rold them to get the dr. I was at 9 1/2cm. The dr asked if she could tretch my cervix the 1/2 cm so I could start pushing. That was not the most enjoyable part.
It was time to push! In exactly 3 contractions I had her head almost out, Dr told me to slow down so she coild massage the area to prevent any big tearing. (She refuses to do episiotomies which is great).
I felt my baby girls head pop out, and with 1 last push the rest followed.
Delayed cord clamping, 2 hour mandatory skin to skin (baby girl latched on right away!!!) A few stitches which hurt very much atm, and then the wait to deliver the placenta.
My son was so intrigued by it that the dr had him put gloves on and he got to examine and play with it. (Future Dr?? Who knows!)
Overall it was amazing and everything i wanted (exept not at home). Natural, peaceful birth in a hospital setting, the staff surprised me, my son and SO were perfect and my baby girl is 100% healthy. I am so proud of myself.

Admitted at 6, baby born at 10:34.
