How should I dye my hair??

Hey guys! I’ve been thinking about dying my hair for a while now. I’ve been leaving it untouched for a few years because it had some pretty bad heat damage and I had to chop it so I’ve just been letting it grow, but now it’s finally healthy enough that i think I’m gonna dye it in a few months!

My natural hair’s chocolate brown. I’m not really considering any “exotic” colors (blue, purple, etc) mostly blondes/lighter browns and maybe reds. I’m just not sure what would look good w my skin tone and have always been afraid that going lighter would wash me out.
