Here goes... People care about other people’s private lives because...?

And here is a meta question: why (overall) do you think we care about other people’s private lives ie what’s not our business? This excludes anything where it’s made our business, like illegal activity or involving you or someone else who didn’t want to be. It’s just any part of a person’s not public life that we like to dissect.

Above are some ideas:

People are bored and gossiping is fun

The critics think that their way is the only right way

It creates a feeling of being better, which boosts self esteem

It’s a social activity which gives a feeling of being in a group
