Flu shots?

So Iv never gotten my kids their flu shots. My daughter is 2 and my son is 1. I’m not against vaccines by no means (Both kids are up to date). But for some reason I’m conflicted about the flu shot. Iv heard a lot of bad about it, but also heard good. I don’t want the shot to harm them, but I also don’t want to risk them getting sick. I know ultimately it’s up to me and what’s best for my babies... but I was just wondering what some of y’all do for your kids? Do you get it? Have they still gotten the flu even after getting the shot? Do you not get it? Did they remain healthy without the extra protection? I’m just a worried mama! Thanks for any advice or answers in advance!!
