Too needy?

Ok so recently me and this guy that I’ve been friends with for a while started hooking up again and hanging out. He came back into my life again right when my dad passed so i feel like i kind of leaned on him as a coping mechanism and now all i wanna do is see him and be around him. This morning we were hanging out and he said I’ve been too needy lately and I’m starting to feel like a gf and he thinks I’m starting to wanna be with him. I don’t ask this man for nothing but to see me or talk to me when i need it yet I’m being too needy? After i saw him i texted him and told him why i act how i act and all he responded with was an ok . So i told him i won’t be calling or texting him anymore; and I know if i don’t do those things i probably

Won’t hear from him again. I don’t know what to do or how to feel. I know I’m lonely but was i being too needy ? 🥺🥺😭😭
