Where to go??

Question

I know San Diego is great, but I need some more insight since we have 3kids and are from Florida so Virginia beach would be closer to family. 
Please throw down some comments as to why you love/dislike each area

Virginia is awesome from what I heard. San Diego is to crowded and over populated and the crime is ridiculous

I was born and raised in San Diego and love it. We’ve been stationed in Lynchburg VA and now we’re in Orlando Florida. And nothing compares to the beautiful weather In San Diego. It depends what branch and base you get stationed at.

Absolutely loved being stationed in Virginia! There’s so much to do and it’s great if you have kids. I would stay away from San Diego, it is beyond crowded everywhere you go and the traffic is insane! ( the worst i have experienced in the entire US and i used to live close to Washington D.C. for a while lol) 
Also people in Virginia are a lot nicer!

I’m from FL & currently in San Diego. It’s beautiful, close to the same atmosphere as FL , and there is so much to do (which is easier because the weather is always amazing)! However, it is very expensive (even with a really high BAH). I have friends who do it with kids, but it is hard. I would definitely look into cost of living of each city before you decide. Good luck!

We just PCSed last year from Pensacola to Virginia Beach. We love living in Chesapeake area.

We're leaving San Diego as one of our last bases when my husband makes it to an even higher rank. All we hear is how expensive it is, how bad traffic is. Have you looked up rent out there for a family? It's insane even with the bah. My family is also on the east coast, so being close is nice.

I’m stationed in San Diego, its very expensive to live here and very busy. I prefer Virginia and am trying to PCS back to be with my husband and eldest son.

We were stationed in VB for several years. It was beautiful, great for kids, tons to do for all ages, friendly area. I would go back!
