What to expect - C-Section

Question

I’m scheduled for a c-section Friday (11/9/18) and my anxiety is getting worse the closer it gets! This is my 2nd child but first cesarean due to medical reasons. What should I expect?! I’m freaking out about being awake while being cut open, afraid I’m gonna feel it! How bad is it?! Ladies, help calm my nerves lol

For me the worst part was my reaction to the morphine because it makes me sick so ask for anti nausea meds, I could feel pressure but no pain at all and it's a little strange being awake but it's much safer than being under general anesthesia. You don't see anything and it helped me to focus on my husband. The whole thing from the O/B walking in to the first glimpse of my son was only about 15 minutes after you see your baby time goes by even faster and before you know it you're in recovery waiting to hold baby and you might deel short of breath for the first few hours but that's totally normal and you are going to do and be JUST FINE hang in there mommy lady 👣👣👣

Coming from someone who found out they were having a cesarean the next day, I was really nervous. Mostly due to the fact that I'm terrified of needles and the epidural left me feeling very scared. I didn't even think about the fact that I would be getting cut open to get my daughter out, just the idea of a needle going into my back was enough. Honestly though, aside from having to get 2 lidocaine shots, (because it wasn't placed properly the first time), it honestly wasn't bad at all. I did end up feeling pretty nauseous at some point during my surgery, but the anesthesiologist administered some medicine into my IV, which helped tons. I know it's easier said than done, but just try to stay as calm as you can. It'll be okay and good luck 💜

It was such a good experience for me. I thought I’d be a wreck but once I got the medicine and couldn’t feel anything I was just excited. My husband kept me distracted and the time flew by so quick! And I healed super quick too! I was up walking later that night and I only had one day where I was in any “pain” and that was day 4 but I just took the medicine they gave me and I was fine. It was all worth it for my healthy baby!
