Is this sketchy?

My boyfriend and I are moving into an apartment and half of the place is revenorated and half isn’t. We’re getting the half that isn’t because it’s only 985 a month. The reviews said make sure you see the place before you move in because it’s not what it looks like the inside. So we applied and paid money for the application fees, and so I told my boyfriend text the leasing consultant and ask if we can see the place before we move in. When I went there on a tour they showed me the new ones for 1100, and I asked can I see the other ones, and she said she has none available to show. 🤔 Now my boyfriend texted him and he said yes of course you have every right to see it so my boyfriend asked when (obviously we want to see it before we sign anything or pay any money) and the guy said “your move in date you can see it) which seems a little sketched out to me... advice please? The move in day is January 22nd and I’m feeling a bit weirded out because we should be able to see it right after we apply or before we sign anything. Advice please? Especially since the reviews say the apartments look nothing like the pictures and really odd reviews... Thanks.
