How do I tell them without sounding like a celebrity???🤔

I am 25 wks and I was thinking ahead to my first daughter’s birth and ideas of birth announcement pictures and then came to my head that I will give birth thru C-section and I will probably won’t be in control of who sees and pictures my baby while I am still at the OR and recovery. So I want to tell my family members that will be with me at the hospital waiting for my baby’s arrival including and especially my mother that I don’t want them to post any pictures of my baby on social media before I do because I have my own plans and I want to able to control how and when to do so. However, I do not want to hurt their feelings. I know my mom is very excited about me having my first baby girl after 2 boys and she will post something about it as a proud grandma but I don’t want a picture of her out in social media without my consent. Honestly is my first daughter and I want to be able to do it at my own timing. Any suggestions???😞

Just say how it is. I’m the same. I’m telling people they can take whatever photos they like, but don’t upload them to social media until they see a post from me. Because me and my partner would like to announce to everybody as it’s our baby. I’ve said this all the way through...when we announced our pregnancy, scans etc. They’ll understand

I think it’s completely understandable you want to be the first to announce your new baby!  I think you should just be open and honest beforehand with whoever will be at the hospital, and just say “look I know you guys are so excited, but please out of respect for me don’t post anything until I’ve gotten the opportunity to announce my child first”. I think that anyone would understand that-at least I hope so. If they don’t understand or get upset about it then tell them they can’t see the baby at the hospital then 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just talk to them. I did the same thing with my son, and my overbearing mother was fine with it. I actually didn't allow posts for a couple days after birth because that is when I announced. It is your birth experience, your baby, and you should be able to make that decision.

With our son we were just clear from the beginning that we would post about his arrival when we were ready and we wanted a few days to ourselves and to share the news personally and celebrate with family and friends. We posted on social media the night we got home from the hospital 2 days after he was born. It was very difficult for both our mother's who were far away, could not be there in person, and were just excited about their grandbaby, but they understood and in the end they respected our wishes. My mom accidentally posted something early (she misunderstood when I told her I'd be making my post once we got home that that meant she could post once she knew we were leaving the hospital) and my husband's mom saw it and was unhappy, so my mom deleted her post and we posted a couple hours later and then they both posted what they wanted. I'm not sure how I feel about it this time yet based on what happened last time because it really just ended up being a headache and the bottom line is everyone is just excited to celebrate this new life and that's awesome!

My mil posted the first picture of my second born. I was beyond pissed. With my third, I told “everyone” even though it was directed at my mil and sil cause they’re obsessed with social media, that when I went into labor up until I posted something about her being born they’re not to say a word. They both agreed along with everyone else and it all worked fine. Just be honest. Have your hubby in on the plan too, when I went into labor my husband was the one letting our family know, but he also reminded them to stay off social media.

I told my mom point blank. No updates whatsoever until my husband and I are ready. If they can't respect that, they shouldn't be in the hospital with you.

Why would they see the baby while you’re still in the OR? I had a c section with my first and baby stayed with me the entire time - for about 2 hours after surgery before we could get out of recovery and see my family. If you don’t want baby going anywhere, keep them with you🤷‍♀️

When I announced I was pregnant I didn’t want my ultrasounds posted (I think they’re personal and at least on here it’s somewhat anon) and then my mom posted them without even asking and she got mad that I asked her to do take them down. Both my parents want to be in the waiting room and I said that’s fine as long as you’re good waiting the whole time I’m in labor and for hours after (I’m sure I will not want anyone around except for my boyfriend) but I will be making it very clear to not post anything until we do. It’s not unreasonable, no one needs to know on social media. I don’t hate social media at all but there’s just some things that need to be private.

How do I tell them without sounding like a celebrity???🤔
