Baby name drama

My husband and I really like the name Everette. It was my husbands grandfathers name on his dads side.

When my husband mentioned to his dad that we really like the name Everette, he said he didn’t think it was a good idea because my mother in law would be upset and wonder why we didn’t name our baby after someone on her side.

I am really thrown by this, as my mom passed 4 years ago and in my mind I feel like she should be happy to be a part of our child’s life regardless of the name.
