Is it possible my baby is having panic attacks?
There is no certain time of day that these episodes happen, it is common though for it to be more later in the day than early (after noon). She doesn’t cry really it’s loud screams that echo through out the house and is heard in our front lawn. She does this so hard it’s common for her to poop herself or gag/choke. She will breathe rapidly and sometimes hold her breath. She turns a dark red color and there is no way of consoling her. It’s not like she’s showing any cues of hunger or being tired either. There are no patterns that make sense at all to explain the cause. I’ve asked her pediatrician and I always get told “she’s not colic, she’s fussy, welcome to parenthood.” When I watch these episodes they really seem to look like an anxiety attack. I just don’t know what could be stressing her this bad. We don’t really leave the house often and we don’t have any thing that could overstimulate her. These episodes have happened during feedings, changing, play time, abruptly during a nap. She’s not even 3 months and I’m beyond scared she’s going to stop breathing during one of these episodes. Could it be a panic attack? What should I do if her pediatrician isn’t very helpful?
