MIL RANT!

My MIL has never shown any interest in getting to know me, which I came to accept. When my husband told her he was going to propose, her response apparently was, “That’s a really big ring. Does it need to be that big?” Since having my first, she’s become worse (baby #2 on the way). It’s as if I’ve done my duty for her (give her grandkids) and now I can go away. Everything is a production - family or social events she takes my son away the minute we arrive and totes him off as far away as she can, sometimes against his wishes while he screams and cries - she will legit sometimes take him into a bedroom at shut the door. At his second birthday party she literally took him outside just the two of them when all our family drove an hour to see him. Today she texted me asking if she could take my son to a Christmas festival in another town with her daughter and other daughter-in-law. I very clearly was not invited. I told her no and that my son needed a nap. I’m just at a total loss as to what to do. I moved to this town for my husband (in-laws live in same town), which is over an hour away from my own family and friends. I feel like I’m back in middle school with the mean girls and I’m at the end of my rope and am about to explode. My husband is no help. He makes excuses for his mom and would never confront her or tell her to stop being so controlling of our son even though he agrees. I haven’t even touched on our finances (he’s self employed and in business with his dad; he makes BIG financial decisions with them without telling me). I’m mostly just venting but if anyone has a similar experience or suggestions on how to not go insane, I’d gladly welcome it bc I legit can’t imagine living like this for the rest of my life and at least monthly consider divorcing my husband bc I can’t stand his controlling mother!
