5 week old's sleeping schedule...

Marissa • married mama of two 👧🏻👶🏻🧡

So... my daughter is 5 weeks old as of this past Friday and she is a champ at fighting sleep! She'll take 2 or 3 long naps (~2 hours) a day but is starting to be much more alert between feedings. During the day, she'll nap in her swing, on my chest or occasionally in her boppy. I have tried to put her in her bassinet for naps but she screams and cries until I pick her up again. The real problem comes at night. She'll fall asleep after her feeding (usually between 8/9) and she can be sound asleep, but when I put her in the bassinet, she cries until I pick her up. Most nights I end up holding her on my chest for AT LEAST an hour, sometimes more, until she's in a deep sleep and then I can lay her down. Even then, she'll stir and kick her legs, but most of the time she stays asleep. I'm not sure what to do. She doesn't end up going down for the night until 11 or midnight most nights. I don't want her to become too dependent on falling asleep on my chest because that won't work forever (as much as I love it). She likes white noise so we play that on a tablet for her and set a timer for an hour. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to do to get her (and myself because I'm exhausted) on a better schedule. Any tips or advice? Thanks in advance!
