One child only? Your thoughts pl

Question

I have a son, still Pp, had a high risk pregnancy. I am 31 yo. I do not want another baby because
1. My age
2. I am not employed right now
3. I feel I am not prepared for the extra work amd input
4. Better for world population
I want to know are there any mommies who are planning on not having more kids. I am not judging anyone and would appreciate polite language in responses. Just want to verify if I am alone or not. My dad has 7 siblings, mom has 3. So I am used to large families and cousins etc.

I am a 1 and done mom. We struggled with unexplained infertility and after months of timed intercourse with hormone manipulation and 1 IUI, I finally conceived my baby boy. He is everything I had dreamed of and more and I am so in love! My husband and I had discussed if we would want more children and decided that he will be an only child for several reasons. One of which is that I was 38 and would be 3 months shy of 39 when he would be born. I discussed our decision for him to be an only child with my OB and signed paperwork for a tubal ligation in case I ended up with a c-section. Well, he was breech so I had a planned c-section and my tubes tied. I have a beautiful boy and turned 39 yesterday. He will grow up with vacations, unlimited love and attention, 
and canine siblings. 
You aren’t selfish or wrong for making the best decisions for yourself and your family.

We are one and done! It's better for the population and we want to be able to travel and take her on adventures. It's hard affording Disney world with multiples... To be honest we only ever wanted one, we wanted to be able to have someone to share everything we love with and have the time to give her all the attention and love.

We’re only having one. Our reason is we want to be able to travel and show our daughter the world.  We won’t spoil her but she’ll get a good life.
I have a sister and we are not close so I feel like having a sibling doesn’t guarantee that they will get along.
Plus it will be cheaper having one. Also I’m almost 33 so I get ya on the age bit

I’m all for just having one. My son is four months old and this sh!t it hard. Way harder than I ever thought and I can’t imagine having a newborn with a toddler. Good for the people that do it but I’m out! 😂😂 also it’s expensive as all get out!! I pay $500 a month for insurance for me and my son and it’s not even great insurance. Also daycare is 145 a week so for two kids I’d pay close to 900 a month in insurance and 1160 in day care. Forget it. I was an only child and loved it and never asked my mom for siblings

I'm 30 and just had my first child. Your reasons 3 and 4 are also why I probably won't have another. I'm not going to say 100% won't have another one because my feelings might change in a few years and if so then 2 would be my max. It might be nice to have a little girl or for my son to have a sibling, but we're really leaning towards just one and done. It is hard enough already! And my husband works from home so we constantly help each other. I don't know how people will lots of kids do it! My sister is about to have her 4th and her oldest just turned 5. I couldn't do that. 
I think having one child is great if that's what you want. No reason to have another if you know it will make you more stressed or anything. And only children aren't "spoiled" or "weird" like people think. Studies have shown that they are often more mature and advanced since they have full attention from their parent(s). 
Having more than one child is also great if that's what someone wants. They usually end up happy and enjoy their siblings (eventually 😉... I come from a big family. Often it's insane.)
So anyway, you're definitely not alone. Do what makes your life happy. 🙂

If I didn't get remarried I would have only had 1 child. I just really wanted a baby with my current husband too. But my daughter was 8 before we started trying for my youngest. And it was great. She got a bit lonely at times, but that's when you start doing a lot of play dates. It was really nice being able to give all our attention to her
