Why is she like this???

I’m 20 and have been with my boyfriend for a about a year. But he has been in my life for two. Our relationship is going great, and continues to grow but I have one issue. My mom refuses to meet him. She met him face to face once but doesn’t want to get to know him until we are engaged...it really hurt me for her to say that because he means to much to me and I’m ready to bring him to meet my family. Why would she do this? Anyone done this with their kids? I’m feeling deafeated ☹️
