Privileged?

Do you think the word privilege is losing its meaning. Ive seen people say "stop you're privilege is showing" or "You're just privilege." But privilege is a good thing why is it turning into a bad thing with a bad rap? Its not bad to be loved and have opportunities and blessed as long as you are humble it shouldnt be looked at as a bad thing.

Privileged is having special rights, advantages, or immunities. Wouldn't really say it's being blessed with opportunities.

Asking people to acknowledge their privilege and how said privilege shapes their perceptions is not saying that privilege is bad.
I have privilege—in terms of my skin color, where I was born, the neighborhood I grew up in, the socioeconomic status of my family, ect. These things are not inherently bad, but they have been part of my experiences and thus shaped my perception and understanding of the world around me. It’s also not bad to acknowledge.

No. It’s not losing it’s meaning. 
Not acknowledging privilege is what’s the issue. 
Some forms are closer to neutral, others are definitely bad. For example, I shouldn’t have an easier life because I have light skin, but I do. Not not wanting to admit that would make me an asshole.

I think it’s annoying and overused. It is grouping people together without knowing their background and it’s an blanket statement that’s an invalid argument.

I think people just misunderstand privilege. Privilege is a good thing, I guess, but when you don’t know about a situation due to privilege, yet try to speak about it and preach to those living that life, it causes second hand embarrassment for others. I have privilege. Does that mean I’ve never faced hard times? Of course not. You can have privilege in one aspect of life, and not in another. I grew up in a very abusive household. Yet I also am white and I don’t have to deal with racial profiling by police. I got away with a lot because of that.

Nope it’s not losing it’s meaning, people just don’t understand it. Privilege isn’t a bad thing at all, the problem comes when those who are privileged are not humble and do not want to look outside their bubble. They don’t want to accept or help out those who don’t have the same privilege.

Being white means you have certain privileges that minorities do not. 
Privilege is a special right, it doesn’t have to just be race. Could be gender, sexual orientation, class, and etc. 
I think it’s great you know the scales are tipped in your favor but some people are that lucky. It’s key that everyone knows that.

Acknowledging privilege isn’t a bad thing. I’m a white girl who grew up in a wealthy family. I carry some privilege around with me and I recognize that so that it doesn’t blind me to reality. I’m not a bad person because my family had money. My experience also isn’t any less valid, it’s just a different experience.

I think that the term privilege, as well as oppression, has been way too overused as of recent. 
It's become this giant validity competition, ”look at me, my words mean more than yours, I am oPpReSsEd. Look at you, your words are invalid because you have pRiViLeGe!”.
And this is coming from someone who got a pretty low score on ”privilege bingo” ;)

Privilege is bad when you refuse to acknowledge that you have it, in my opinion.
