Those silly tipping sociopaths...

Do you think in the long run that tipping for services in which said tip makes up a portion of the providers paycheck is ultimately harmful?

I'm watching a video about tipping in America. Part of it mentions a study showing humans tend to like tipping because it feeds an internal sociopathic tendancy since we can control if another human can afford to eat or not. Which is based on if we get the "perfect service" we want that the provider is magically supposed to know. It also says we're not likely to actually withhold the tip but we *like* having that kind of power over someone else subconsciously.

I have definitely run into a few assholes in my day who would hold a dollar over the waiters head if they could get away with it. I thought it would be a fun topic.
