Toddler cold sore?

I am probably being paranoid, but my toddler has two red spots- one right above his lip, and one right below. I am trying to find out if anyone he's been with recently had or has a cold sore. What are things I should look out for to decide if it is or not? He's 20 months

Does he use a binky? My son sometimes will get sores on his lips from binky especially when teething and the extra saliva.

I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. My daughter used to get rashes on her face and hives. She still gets hives sometimes.

I SWORE my son caught one from one of his friends a few weeks back. He's 2 1/2. It was on the corner of his mouth & it was red & just kind of icky looking. I did go to the pediatrician about it to figure out what it was. They did a culture of it so they could tell me what to do about it. Miraculously there was NO bacteria or virus in it, nothing! So it was just a sore that started getting irritated & dry. They just said try some vaseline on the spot & it would heal up.
So bottom line, ask you pediatrician to have it tested if you really think it is a cold sore, that way you know for sure. It could be as simple as a dry irritated spot 👍
