It really just depends on the doctor. When I went past 40 weeks, my midwife discussed my options with me. She let me know risks of waiting etc etc but she left it up to my husband and I. She said we could wait it out another week to see if I go into labor on my own.
On the other hand I know a local doctor or induces his patients all the time around 38/39 weeks because it’s better for his schedule to have induced births instead of natural. 🙄🙄
