Telling if he came?

We were having sex and it seemed he finished. He said he did. I was super wet down there but not anything running down my leg. He was wet and had to go clean himself off. It smelled weird like bleach I guess which I’ve heard can be a sign he did. But I never really saw it or that I could tell. And it can be hard to distinguish from my own fluids. So do you think he really did finish and I couldn’t tell or that he just said that? Or that is what happened in the bathroom?

We have been dating a month and first couple times having sex so not sure if that’s normal. Do all guys clean up like that after?
