“Speciesism”?!

Speciesism: the assumption of human superiority leading to the exploitation of animals.

Do you believe that this is a true issue?

If so, do you think it’s as pressing an issue that needs addressed as racism, sexism, or ableism? What qualifies as “speciesism?” Having pets? Eating meat? Animal testing?

This is loosely brought on this post going around that says service animals are being exploited. People who say this is ableism were met with replies saying that calling it ableism is speciesism and that’s just as bad.
