Almost debt free!
Husband and I had over 15k in debt (I know, it racks up fast). There’s no excuse besides the fact that we knew we could swipe the cards so we did. To be fair, $6k is student loan debt. We also paid every payment on time. But it was taking every last bit of our money that could have gone into savings. I’m happy to say we were able to pay $9k in debt off! It feels SO good. My score and my husbands dropped drastically from 700s to low 600s. Thankfully we own our vehicles out right and rent so no mortgage or anything to lose. But I have been so stressed due to what we owed. Now I feel so much better. Our plan is to use 2 cards a month 1 on gas and 1 on whatever necessities we need like toiletries to keep them open and then just pay them off and not go over $100 total each month. Then alternate cards. I don’t want to close them down so I hope I am doing this correctly. If anyone has tips let me know! I’m trying to keep the balances low if at all and keep them open so we can build credit for later when we are ready to actually buy a house. Thanks in advance.
