So, I have only been 17 for about 4 and a half months now. Recently I was told that I couldn’t be with this guy I really, REALLY like. My parents don’t usually tell me to not go out with people- usually they are cool with it- but this time my father looked me in the eyes at my most sincere moment of that relationship and told me that I could not be with that boy. This boy is a year younger than me, which is also new for me. I guess my question is... at 17, living under your parents roof. How do you tell your -stern- father that you think you know what is best for yourself?? I really need help with this so I can keep being with this guy, please help... any advice is always appreciated. ❤️🥺

First, if you want be with him, be with him. But take your father's reaction as a  precaution because you never know if your BF could change over night. Second, if you honestly believe this guy is the one for you, then prove it to your father that he's good for you. For example, ways he brings you up when your down, he always wants you to do your best in life, and contributes to your success and happiness. Third, always keep this in mind... Any guy that you date has to beat your father's expectations. The way you dad treats you, your mother, and other people around him is that same way your BF should be to you and others. Maybe better. He doesn't have to be perfect, he just needs to love and respect you as a human being. I hope this helps Love😘

My parents have never liked any guy I’ve ever date. I’ll be 18 in January. My parents have never trusted me. I understand where you’re coming from. It sucks when your parents are “ruining your life.” I promise, though, that in a few months your thoughts will be different. Like it or not, your parents are your parents. You can have any guy, but only one set of parents. Think about which you would rather have.

Do what you like but keep in mind what your father said to you because sometimes you don’t see what others do so don’t be blinded try to understand why your father feels that way and take it from there
