What did/does your newborn sleep in at night?

So FTM and Im starting my registry. Originally I saw how a ton of moms reccommended the rock n play for sleeping at night especially if the baby had acid reflux (and I have no way to know if my baby will or not of course), but the more I researched the more Im finding its passed down from mom to mom and not actually reccomended. I have read pediatrician articles and similar material that suggested rock n plays could increase the risk of sids due to the incline for the head and padding plus restricted babies movements during sleep which isnt suppose to be good either. I know not all parents go by the suggestions of experts and do what is best for their family specifically, but Im starting to change my mind. What did you all use? Did your pediatrician recommend it?

You are right to question the rock n play. Just so you know, it was removed from shelves in Canada because it doesn’t meet safe sleep guidelines. When it became available again Fisher Price had renamed it Rock n play “soothing seat” (opposed to “sleeper”) and it is very clearly labeled as being not safe for overnight sleep.

Our daughter slept in the Halo Bassinet next to our bed until she was about three months old. 👌🏾 After she outgrew it, we used one of her pack-n-plays until she was six months. After she turned six months old, she began sleeping in her nursery. We had an Auto Rock N Play, but we never used it for overnight sleeping or daytime naps. We basically used it for lounging for a little while and then she started crying whenever we would put her in it so we just stopped using it. We also have a Dockatot Deluxe, Dockatot Grand, Snuggle Me Organic, Baby Delight Snuggle Nest, and Snuggle Nest Traveler. We never allowed her to sleep in any of those items at night either. While many people use the Dockatots for overnight sleeping, we didn't because we did not want to start the habit of bedsharing. All of those items were used for daytime naps and traveling. As far as the rock n play and other items, such as swings, bouncers, the Mamaroo, etc., we did not allow any type of naps in that. We wanted her to sleep on flat surfaces. However, I have heard that a lot of babies love to sleep on surfaces that are not flat. I guess it's up to you. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Pack N Play bassinet until 3 or 4 months, then Pack N Play, anf then got moved to her crib in her room around 6 or 7 months.

In bed with me. He’s 3 months and I want to keep him in there with me. But we’ve just moved the cot into our room so he’ll be going into that soon. Sigh. I will miss our snuggles.

We used an in bed cosleeper until 4 months then a pack n play since I'm breastfeeding and wanted to be near my son. He still wakes up once a night to nurse at 6 months old so I'm still unsure of when we're transitioning him to his crib. However, that being said, my son has terrible reflux and we use the rock n play for naps plus I've propped him up on a pillow in the past since the wedges for his different mattresses aren't nearly high enough. SIDS terrified me, sure, but it was not as frightening as having my son asperate on his vomit. You'll find that you make decisions based on the here and now once you have a baby, even if you thought you had everything all figured out!

We started in a bassinet next to the bed, and then after she was a month old we transitioned into the crib!

We cosleep/bedshare. If you can do it safely, I recommend it. We get the best nights sleep because of it
